Atebits Likes My Icon Design (Apparently)
I love Twitter and post frequently. Of the multitude of Twitter clients available, my favorite by far is Tweetie (direct iTunes link), which I own for both my Mac and iPhone.
The developer, atebits (aka Loren Brichter), recently announced a new iteration of Tweetie for iPhone, updating it to a brand new, from-the-ground-up build christened version 2.0.
Several blogs (including Smoking Apples) quickly followed the announcement with their p/reviews of the upcoming update. That’s when I saw this:

If you’re reading this, it means you’re at my blog, which means you’ve seen my site design. One way to get here from my site’s index page is by clicking on this icon:

Look familiar? Yeah, that’s what I thought, too.
Needless to say, I’m both flattered and a little annoyed. I put a lot of thought into my site and all the icons associated with it, and while it’s nice to see my design echoed by someone whose work I truly admire, it sucks to have my creativity so heavily overshadowed.
Regardless of whether or not Loren has ever happened to visit my site (I highly doubt it), anyone who’s familiar with the new icon will think I’m a plagiarist.
Giant bummer.
What’s worse, I can’t do anything about it. In fact, I’ll be paying Loren another $3 when Tweetie 2 drops sometime in the next couple weeks.
I guess some wounds need to be salted.
